Our Pastor

David Barbee was saved and baptized on February 17, 1991, at Southeast Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK.  His wife, Jimmi, was saved two years later at Bible Baptist Church in Sapulpa, OK.  Soon after his salvation, David had a strong desire to serve the Lord full-time in the ministry.  As he and Jimmi grew spiritually and waited upon the Lord, they served their local church any way they could.  Then, in May of 1998, God called David into the full-time ministry as Associate Pastor of Southwest Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK.  In 2002, the Lord led David to enroll at Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma city, OK, where he graduated with honors in 2006.  After serving a two year internship at Calvary Baptist Church in Edmond, OK, God stirred David’s heart to step out and pastor.  The Lord led David and his family to the beautiful town of Houston in the Missouri Ozarks. David accepted an invitation from the church to come and preach.  On April 13, 2008, he delivered his first message at Houston Bible Baptist Church.  He and his family fell in love with Houston and the church from the very beginning.  The same day he preached his first sermon at the church, they called him to be their Pastor.

David and Jimmi have been married since 1985 and have three children, two adult, and one teenage.  Their oldest daughter’s name is Ashley, their son’s name is David James, and their youngest daughter’s  name is Hannah.

Who We Are

We are a Baptist church! !

We are a conservative fundamental independent Baptist Church holding to the principle doctrines and practices of New Testament Christianity.  We believe the Bible is God’s complete revelation to mankind and is sole and final authority for all faith and practice.

We are an independent church!

Because we believe the Biblical model of a church is independent and autonomous, we practice self-government of our own affairs.  Jesus Christ is our head and the Bible is our Constitution.  Although we whole-heartedly cooperate and fellowship with other independent Baptist churches of like-faith and practice, we do not belong to any denominational organization or submit to any man-made hierarchy of authority.

We are an unaffiliated church!

In addition to exercising self-government, we do not endorse or consider ourselves “affiliated with” any para-church organizations.  Although we may choose to utilize materials that para-church organizations supply or may support missionaries affiliated with clearing houses or missions boards, we do so without acting as an affiliate or placing ourselves under the authority of that organization.

We are a friendly church!

We may be independent fundamental and conservative, but we’re not mad about it!  We strive to be humble loving caring servants of God.  No one in our church is perfect and  we come from a wide variety of backgrounds.  We come from loving Christian homes, abusive dysfunctional homes, and everything in between.  You are likely to find someone who has a been through some of the same things you have.  Our goal is to allow God’s grace to transform us into the wonderful image of Jesus Christ and help others to do the same as we learn, live, and love God’s way!
